A great day at the SMMT International Automotive Summit, London. QUBE Directors Elizabeth Walker and Seamus O’Donnell met with attendees who visited the QUBE stand, and discussed how QUBE could transform their automotive businesses thorough their innovative solutions and products.
The SMMT International Automotive Summit has become an integral fixture in the UK automotive calendar, providing an opportunity for the automotive industry to come together to discuss the issues and opportunities impacting their businesses and the industry as a whole.
With a theme of industry resilience, this year’s agenda addresses the key areas of focus for automotive including competitiveness, international collaboration, skills and technology required for electrification and what is needed to maximise UK manufacturing.
For the industry at large, it was a vital messaging opportunity to reach national and international policy makers, as well as the wider public.
The event attracted an audience of 300 senior level representatives from across the breadth of the industry, including vehicle manufacturers, component manufacturers and the aftermarket, government and the media.
Speakers include senior executives from vehicle manufacturers, policy makers and a host of content experts from automotive and aligned industries.
Chris Giles, Economics Editor for the Financial Times, once again delivered the Economic keynote, while the UK&I Chief Executive of DHL Supply Chain, Saul Resnick, was the Special keynote speaker. Industry keynotes were given by Richard Kenworthy, Managing Director at Toyota Manufacturing UK, and Chris Gall, Engineering Director, Alexander Dennis.
The Secretary of State for Business and Trade, President of the Board of Trade, and Minister for Women and Equalities, The Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, and the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Louise Haigh MP provided Political keynote speeches.
The UK automotive sector urged all political parties to adopt five pledges and supercharge its competitiveness as part of a dedicated industrial strategy – with a £106 billion prize up for grabs from now until the end of the next parliament. Launching “Manifesto 2030: Automotive growth for a zero emission future” at the International Summit in London, calling on every party to recognise the strategic importance of the sector to the UK and create the conditions for a 10-fold rise in annual battery electric vehicle production to more than 750,000 units per year by 2030.
