This week, we’re introducing Dave, a key member of our Trade team supporting the Nissan Trade Direct programme. With nearly 30 years’ experience across the automotive industry, Dave brings exceptional insight, practical know-how, and a genuine passion for helping dealers grow their trade parts business. From coaching and support to performance optimisation, he’s committed to driving real results.
Can you tell us about your role at QUBE?
I am a Trade Performance Manager on the Nissan Trade Direct programme, supporting dealerships across the North of England and Scotland. My role focuses on helping participating dealers grow their trade parts sales to independent repairers, in both mechanical and accident repair channels. This includes coaching and supporting them with marketing, sales, and operational activities, as well as ensuring full compliance with programme standards.
What is your experience in the automotive industry?
I have nearly 30 years’ of experience in the motor trade, having started on the counter and phones at a local motor factor. Since then, I have worked for dealerships, vehicle manufacturers, and major suppliers to the OEM network, predominantly in sales-focused roles.
How has your journey with QUBE been so far?
It has been fantastic. The team welcomed me from day one and genuinely care about the people who work for them.
What was it about QUBE that made you want to get involved?
The company’s reputation and reporting systems speak for themselves. Equally important to me was the team culture. After reading about the senior team on the website, I immediately felt I would fit in, after all, who wouldn’t want to work with people who collectively love 80s music and claim they invented the internet?
What would you say you enjoy most about your job?
I really enjoy being out in the field, interacting with dealers, getting to know them, and helping them develop and grow their businesses by sharing best practices. There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get when a dealer calls to say that something you’ve supported them with has made a difference.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m a keen hiker and love spending time in the hills. My proudest achievements include climbing Kilimanjaro and completing the UK Three Peaks Challenge. Outside of that, I love to be with family and friends, and if that includes a pint of Guinness – even better!
Describe yourself in 10 words or less
A helpful, friendly team player.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Time travel – I’d go back to when Everton were actually good!
What was the last title of the last TV programme or film you watched?
The last film I watched was House of Dynamite. My review: don’t bother!
Tell us something that’s on your bucket list
Learning to fly.
What’s been the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“You have two ears and one mouth – use them in that proportion.”
Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself that they might not know already?
The late wrestler Giant Haystacks was a distant relative – he was married to my mum’s cousin!
